For about two days, it worked occasionally from the passenger switch but without auto up or auto down functions. Then it quit working completely, in the up position. I messed with the up/down button a few times, then opened the passenger window just to make sure that ANYthing worked. I was eventually able to get the driver's side window to open and close again, but the auto-up function needed to be reset.

Go to the pass door, roll the window down, then roll all the way up and hold the button for a couple seconds. That should fix it. It's in the manual somewhere, but I read about it here. It's love that makes a Subaru, not necessarily a logical user experience. Parts left out cost nothing and create no service problems.
