I might have missed it, but I don't see anything in the Owners Manual about this. It does have a feature that will prevent locking the doors when the key is in the ignition switch, and interestingly, according to the Owners Manual, a dealer can turn this off (page 2-9). But that's an anti-lock, not auto-lock, function.

The original poster needed to open the gate from outside the car. The emergency backup inside the gate is not remotely close to being adequate.
