May 19, 2020 · There's crimson near by, that's why it isn't valid -- if there's a little of an evil biome near the house, it will tell you it isn't valid; it seems to require being in the middle of the evil biome for the "This house is corrupted" to pop up, vs just a little for "Not Valid" Just "not valid housing" they're missing proper standing space and the game doesn't clarify that. You need two solid floor blocks. No it doesn't matter if the table is on solid blocks or not. There needs to be at least 1 solid block in the middle. Added one.

Reply. DaBluePanda • 12 yr. ago. As the others have said it is simply the dirt walls that are preventing the spawning and it being valid. Housing can only be valid if you place the walls and and bottom/sides/roof (as far as I've noticed). Good luck fixing it and enjoy Terraria.

Yes, it mentions corruption on the first line, however this isn't immediately clear that corruption creep invalidates occupied housing already built. An (open) door has a negative impact at the NPC's rest position. A flat need a valid NPC rest position (where NPC stand at night) to become valid. It checks all place in your flat to find one. Better question: why is the one on the bottom right valid housing? It's got player-placed background walls, a solid (hammering doesn't change this) roof & walls, and presumably fits the furniture requirements. How is it valid tho? It won't work for me if not the entire background is made up of player placed walls.
